In an item posted last Friday about a duo of 1 terabyte hard drive announcements, I mistakenly suggested that Seagate’s product roadmap features a 300 terabyte drive a few years out. Sadly, that’s not the case, although you can be damn sure that Bill Watkins wishes it was. Seagate is actually planning a 300 terabit [...]

A post here Monday mischaracterized potential prior art in the RIM/NTP case by taking far, far too literally the comments of Geoff Goodfellow, the entrepreneur who created it. Goodfellow’s speculation that NTP hired him as a contractor to keep him quiet during its legal spat with RIM was just that, speculation, and I should have [...]

Incredibly, in a Tuesday post about Intel’s legal dustup with AMD, I misidentified AMD flak Michael Silverman as an Intel spokesperson (see “AMD clearly on Santa’s ‘nice’ list“). My apologies to Michael. Given current relations between the two companies, there’s clearly no way he’ll ever get a job at Intel now.

A quick apology to the esteemed Palo Alto Research Center, which, contrary to the claims of certain folks who really should know better, hasn’t been shut down at all. Looks like it’s time for another algorithm update, Dr. Murrell.

My coffee must have been a little weaker than usual Wednesday morning, because Dave Edwards, the American Technology Research analyst I quoted in yesterday’s item about Google’s heady share price (see "Time for a Google-Time Warner merger!"), tells me his target price for the search leader has always been $290, not $226 as I reported [...]

A quick apology to esteemed Wall Street Journal tech maven Walt Mossberg for adding a syllable to his name yesterday. I once worked with a sports editor named Mossberger, and in a neural hiccup, that’s what came off my fingertips. (Reader Doug Broussard rightly suggests that a Mossberger would be an excellent menu item for [...]

It has been brought to my attention by assorted alumni that LSU’s mascot, Mike the Tiger, is in fact a very real, full equipped tiger (see “Is it my imagination or does the OS development team always smell faintly of manure?“). “The guy in the tiger suit,” says reader Brent Dornier, “is nothing more than [...]

And yes, I now know that highways 280 and 101 are not California highways, but Interstate and U.S. highways respectively, as our ever-thoughtful readership politely reminded me:
Dear John,
Sorry, I’ve never successfully recovered an Apple AddressBook.app database, but I do nonetheless feel compelled to write you and continue [...]

I suppose I should take it as serendipity that it was just last Tuesday that we were discussing a more formalized corrections policy for GMSV and here we are taking it for a dry run today after I committed two of the worst gaffes in GMSV’s nine year history on Friday. In that day’s column, [...]
