If it helps, the tagline is an anagram for “Edge Shown, Turmoil Norm”
These Willy Wonka-style PR events are rolling out of Apple practically one on top of another lately (see “Almost semi-confirmed! Apple event will/won’t feature Beatles and/or new iPods!“). This time it’s the British press getting an exclusive and cryptic golden ticket, bearing the tagline “Mum is no longer the word” and instructions to show up at 10 a.m. next Tuesday at Apple’s Regent Street store in London. The betting money is on something iPhone related — a European launch date, perhaps, or the announcement of carrier partners (expected to be Telefonica’s O2 UK unit, Deutsche Telekom’s T-Mobile in Germany, and France Telecom’s Orange). Maybe it’s word that the Euro iPhone will use the faster 3G wireless technology not available yet on the U.S. model. Or maybe it’s something entirely different. Try not to let it eat at you all weekend.
Meantime, the free hack just released to enable the iPhone to work with services other than AT&T, has now been successfully tested in 42 countries and with 90 local carriers, according to Engadget’s latest tally.
