Apple announces new iMacs; aluminum stocks soar
Steve Jobs ambled out on stage today and pulled the cloak off a batch of new products, headlined by a set of sleek, all-in-one iMacs in new brushed aluminum casings. The 17-inch iMac disappears from the line, replaced by 20-inch, 2.0GHz model at $1,199. A better-equipped 20-inch model goes for $1,499 and the big 24-incher starts at $1,799, $200 less than its predecessor. Jobs also introduced new versions of the iLife and iWork applications, new photo sharing features for the .Mac network, and a revamped version of iMovie, enabling faster video editing.
