Apple turnover: new crop of MacBooks
Apple rolled out a trio of new MacBooks today — nothing dramatic, just spiffier enough to remind current owners that they no longer have the latest greatest. The full specs are here, but basically you’re looking at faster Intel Core 2 Duo processors, 1GB of memory and larger hard drives in each model, two white and one black, priced from $1,099 to $1,499. For those of the Mac persuasion, let the drooling commence.
Nothing ever changes with Apple and laptops. Back in the day of the first Powerbooks I remember manning the floors at a Mac dealer. The problem with all these releases is that any stock that is sitting around is now not attractive. Customers immediately would want the newer model (of course). If they are not in stock immediately the store loses sales and inventory is stock in limbo. That said I’ll likely drop by my local Apple dealer to see if they have the new ones in stock today!!!
